|
The Rick Hansen Institute is committed to developing and promoting of Best Practices that lead to improvement in the quality of life of people with SCI.
What is a Best Practice? A Best Practice is a technique or method that, through experience and research, has been proven to be effective. As a network of Networks and Solutions Teams across Canada, we will support the development of Best Practices in the SCI field through four main activities:
- translating knowledge gained from our own work in Translational Research and Customized Solutions into Best Practice descriptions
- seeking out and promoting Solutions that are already Best Practices in parts of Canada or around the globe but have yet to be adopted across our country
- Transferring Knowledge of Best Practices among SCI practitioners, institutions and organizations
- working closely with the SCI community, across the continuum of treatment/care/support, to achieve the above.
We will promote and share Best Practices that:
- have been formally validated – through a trial, pilot, demonstration or expert review
- have been formally adopted or endorsed by an organization, institution, or "community of practice" active in the SCI field
- have been described in enough detail that they can be applied by a person with SCI, qualified practitioner or caregiver, or health institution or authority.
