The SCI community in Ontario is working closely with the Rick Hansen Institute in the formation of the Ontario SCI Solutions Alliance (Ontario Alliance), co-chaired by the Canadian Paraplegic Association (CPA) Ontario and the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation (ONF).
Comprised of stakeholders in the spinal cord injury (SCI) field in Ontario, including consumers, researchers, clinicians, service providers, program administrators and relevant policy staff, the Ontario Alliance collaborates to implement improvements that benefit the quality of life and full participation in the rights and obligations of citizenship for people living with SCI.
Close alignment of provincial and national translational research activities has been made possible through funding from Health Canada and the Province of Ontario, and a commitment of collaboration between provincial and national stakeholders. Innovative projects leveraged through capacity building solutions will expand the level of provincial expertise and quality of research. Ontario’s leadership is resulting in cooperative synergy that has yielded advantageous outcomes for the benefit of all Canadians with SCI.
